Its that sense of just being able to reach out and touch our history. Its like walking through the world with not just our fingers, but all of our senses. I love old book stores, you get to see what others found important in the books, and having them handed down is a beautiful thing. It is something that is lost with a electronic book.

I feel a real sense of loss that our bookstores are closing, and if anything it's even worse when libraries close. My local library is selling books to make room for more technology, and that is sad. There is something about walking through stacks of books that I just don't get browsing online.

My dad left me his books, with some passages marked. When I read and see that, I feel that part of him is still with me.

I have often wondered about our love affair with "social networking"... it often seems to me to be just the opposite, keeping us isolated from physical human interaction, while we pretend that it pulls us closer. If I were the gambling sort, I'd be tempted to wager that 4G is Satan's best friend.

Yoga in its current form is in fact more "new age" than old age. As a yoga instructor I've been privy to witnessing the shift from spirituality to commercialism. Most things that are "new age" are in fact borrowed from many ancient practices. The unfortunate aspect of the shift is that in many cases we are moving from the spiritual aspects of the practice and many are looking for the next trendy thing. Even yoga's ancient forms have undergone many revivals which is what accounts for the many forms of yoga.

So glad you were there, but I must take exception to putting yoga under the "New Age" banner. Yoga is only new in the U.S. Vedantist philosophy is actually much older than Christianity, and than Buddhism. Indeed, it was the prevailing religious form of the culture that Shakyamuni Buddha grew up with and practiced in before sitting and achieving liberation under the bodhi tree.
